REQUIREMENTS:

Corn of any of the classes mentioned above generally meet the following requirements:

Not have appearance or objectionable odors such as musty odor , pesticides , fuel or any other substance harmful to health .

Not be submitted fungi, live insects , rodent droppings , dead animals , foreign matter ( pieces of glass , stone, metal or other ) and any other substance harmful to health.

OUR DEFINITION

Corn: The set of grains from any variety or hybrid of the grass Maize.

Wet corn: corn is coming directly from the field, which has not undergone any process of conditioning.

Corn Conditioning: It is obtained from corn wet after being subjected to processes of cleaning, drying and spraying if necessary.

Damaged grains: whole grains are or parties that are markedly damaged by heat, climatic factors, attacks by fungi, insects and rodents or are germinated. In general, a group is considered impaired for the purposes of classification, when the damage is clearly visible and of such a character that is recognized as harmful to trade or use. They are considered such:

a) Those with dark or damaged by any cause germ.
b) Those insects or partially eaten by rodents.
c) Those who have rust on its surface or inside.
d) Those materials discolored or damaged by external heat or the result of overheating due to fermentation.

Grain matches: pieces are corn or less half the normal size and whole grain that do not cross a screen with circular holes of 4.75 mm. diameter.

Infected grain: It is one piece of grain or grain corn that has any kind of micro-organic pest.

Infested grain: It is one piece of grain or corn grain with presence of insects or other pests harmful to the point in any of its biological stages (eggs, larvae, pupae or adults)

Crystallized Grain: Is one grain of corn that has cracked surface cracks or easy to recognize with the naked eye by its characteristic lines that are produced by excess temperature drying (drying violent).

Heat Damaged Grain: The grain or grain piece of corn that has been deteriorated markedly in their natural color as a result of a self-heating or inadequate drying.

Burnt grains: Those who have been charred totally or partially by external heat.

Impurities are grains other than maize (including corn pieces, small grains and pieces of any material passing through a screen with circular holes of 4.75 mm diameter) and any material, not being corn, remain on the screen after the screening.

Objectionable seeds: is the whole different starting seed or corn that can not be separated by mechanical means cleaning and for this reason affects the quality of the products.

White Corn: The corn grain white or yellowish white.

Yellow Corn: The corn yellow or yellow beads with a slight reddish hue.

Mixed corn: The mixture of grains of white corn, yellow and other colors that exceeds the tolerances for white corn and yellow corn.

Dry corn: The conditioning maize should not contain more than 12% moisture.

Corn Clean: The conditioning maize should not contain more than 1.0% impurities.

Mix Color: The presence of grains of corn of different colors in one batch, is expressed as a percentage.

Type: Hard corn: That variety or hybrid with high hardness and translucent appearance.

Type: Semi-hard or Jagged corn: That variety or hybrid maize grains having characteristics intermediate between the tough guy or horny corn and soft type or starch.

Type Soft corn or starch: That variety of corn kernels soft consistency, opaque appearance and generally large in size, they are also called mealy.

Grain hardness: That which depends on the percentage of hard endosperm against soft endosperm contained in the grain and directly corresponds to the hard, semi-hard or toothed varieties and floury. Grain hardness batch or harvest corn conditioning is given by the volumetric weight, which is critical to the performance of industrial processes.

Grade By Sample: Is one type of corn that presents percentages quality factors exceeding tolerances for class III , which shows signs of being heated or hot , having strange odors or present that for any other cause an aspect markedly uncommercial .
